Tory adviser Dominic Cummings self-isolates as people claim it’s ‘karma’

Many have branded Tory aide Dominic Cummings self-isolating as "karma" after the PM's adviser started showing symptoms of coronavirus.

He reportedly showed symptoms over the weekend, hours after video showed him running from the door of 10 Downing Street.

Cummings is quarantined, but will stay in contact with the rest of the Downing Street team throughout, reports say.

It comes after his boss Boris Johnson tested positive for coronavirus on Friday, becoming the first major world leader to be confirmed as having the disease.

Later on Friday, Health Secretary Matt Hancock also tested positive, while the government's chief medical adviser Chris Whitty is self-isolating.

Referencing the government's earlier strategy to combat the virus, one Twitter user wrote: "Cummings, Boris, Matt Hancock and Chris Whitty. Leading from the front with 'herd immunity'."

Another added: "I'd like to send my condolences and love. To the virus."

Following the video which went viral showing Cummings running from the door of Number 10 last week, one tweet said: "Didn't run fast enough obvs."
