Single-vehilce crash in Adams County kills three, seriously injures one

All three passengers died and the driver was seriously injured when an SUV went off the road in Adams County and landed in a drainage ditch early Saturday.

Sgt. Troy Kessler of the Colorado State Patrol said law enforcement was notified of the crash at 6:15 a.m. Saturday. The 2012 Toyota Highlander was found near 136th Avenue and Riverdale Road.

The three passengers were dead at the scene. Kessler said the passengers were a 23-year-old woman from Longmont; an 18-year-old woman from Lafayette; and a 28-year-old man whose hometown is unknown.

No names have been released.

The driver, a 25-year-old man from Longmont, was seriously injured and taken to the hospital. Kessler said speeding and DUI are being investigated as the cause of the crash.

Kessler said the SUV was headed east on 136th Avenue and failed to stop at a stop sign. The vehicle missed a turn, went airborne and landed in the ditch.
