Naked mum, 24, ‘throws newborn and toddler out of window’ before jumping out too

A young mum 'who was tired of being by herself' allegedly tossed her newborn baby and two-year-old out of the second-floor window of her Brooklyn apartment before jumping out naked herself.

Despite the traumatic ordeal all three appeared to survived the fall – but horrified witnesses say once outside Dejhanay Jarrell, 24, continued to hurt her naked children.

It wasn't until a shocked neighbour, who had witnessed what happened and called 911, rushed to their aid and managed to get her to release the newborn, before thanking him for taking them to safety.

The New York Police Department said the baby girl was taken to hospital in a critical condition while the woman and her son were taken elsewhere with non-life-threatening injuries.

He added: "Then when she lands on the floor, she didn’t go unconscious, she was still aware, she grabbed hold of the two kids and proceeded to hurt them more.”

But Mr Chin said he will remain traumatised by the terrifying scenes he then witnessed as he saw the mother banging the newborn's head on the concrete ground, so he jumped over the fence and ran to rescue the baby.

“She had the baby in her grip, and I had to take the baby out of her grip, and hold her until the police and paramedics came," he said.

“As she was trying to hurt her children and I was getting them out of her grip, she kind of thanked me and told me to take care of them. Then she proceeded to talk about how she was tired of being by herself."

He added: "I never witnessed anything like this before. I have kids myself, so to see a mom do something like this was traumatising, I guess.

"It’s going to be stuck in my head for a long time."

Jarrell has now been charged with a string of violent offences, including two counts of attempted murder.
