Meghan Markle and Harry ‘viewed swanky Malibu mansion worth £17m before LA move’

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry reportedly viewed a super swanky mansion in Malibu before their move to Los Angeles.

It was claimed this week that the couple had left Canada and have jetted off the Hollywood, where they are staying with Baby Archie.

It follows their sensational decision to step down as senior royals at the start of the year.

Now reports claim the Duke and Duchess of Sussex had already viewed a lavish pad in Malibu worth around £17m.

According to the Daily Mail, sources claim the couple had viewed the pad with eight bedrooms, 10 bathrooms and close proximity to the coastline.

Named Petra Manor, it sets back residents around £13,000 per night but it is claimed they want to sample the area before making a permanent move.

Living in Malibu would also mean they lie close to Hollywood stars including Leonardo DiCaprio, Courtney Cox and Steven Speilberg.

Stay Awhile Villas owner, Stuart Heller, would not confirm if they had chosen the mansion.

But he did say: "Stay Awhile Villas is often contacted by high profile families seeking to test neighbourhoods throughout Los Angeles before making any move permanent.

"This is the perfect property for anyone wanting to move to the area and Harry and Meghan will want to see if Malibu suits their lifestyle.

"The house is a short term rental, many people come to Malibu looking for a home and they will rent somewhere first to see if it makes sense for them and their family."

It is reported the couple moved to Hollywood so they could be close to a "new team of Hollywood agents and PRs".

It is also understood they want to be closer to Meghan's mum, Doria.

But a source added it may not be wise to buy somewhere quickly because of the price.

They said: "Harry and Meghan want to rent a place similar to what they potentially could live in long term, they want to try it out, see what the area is like and make a decision from there.

"A lot of families of their caliber moving to the area weigh up the benefits of living in Beverly Hills versus the west side, those are lifestyle decisions, they look at where their children will go to school, where their kids will learn to swim.

"Meghan and Harry also have a staff and a security team to think about, all these things are a factor when looking at a new place to live."
