Lyft driver shot seven times by passenger who left her for dead in woods

A Lyft driver has miraculously survived being shot seven times and left for dead, by dragging herself through the woods and knocking on doors for help.

Brandy Littrell picked up Dontarius McGee in Jackson, Mississippi, USA, on Tuesday afternoon.

During the ride, McGee pulled a gun on the woman and told her to get into the backseat of the car.

He proceeded to ask Littrell for money, along with other information such as bank account pins, WLBT reports.

McGee drove them to a woodland area, where he instructed the terrified cab driver to get out of the car and walk into the woods, before shooting her seven times and leaving her for dead.

Through what she says was the force of will to stay alive so that her family didn't have to go through the pain of not knowing what happened to her, Littrell dragged herself out of the woods and began knocking on houses asking for help.

She said: "I realised I wasn't dead, I hadn't bled out, so I was like, I don’t want my family to not know what happened to me. And so I’m like crawling out of the woods and get enough strength to stand up."

A local resident eventually found her and called the emergency services, with her injuries having become life-threatening by the time they arrived.

Paramedics took her to hospital, where she was treated for injuries in her leg, arm, back, stomach and breast, undergoing surgery in the process.

She added: "I’m just super grateful to be alive and my family are safe. And that’s what I’m grateful for."

Littrell however worried for the safety of her grandmother who was staying with her at the time, as the thief now had her house keys, along with her garage door opener and knew her address from letters she had left in the car.

She continued: "My grandma had actually been spending a couple of nights at my house and with him having my car keys and my garage door opener and being able to know my address, I was concerned for my grandma's safety because he wouldn't have any problems shooting her either."

Jackson Police however arrested McGee and charged him with aggravated assault, carjacking and kidnapping, before Littrell's grandmother was put in any danger.
