A teenage girl who has been missing for several days has been remembered by her grandad in a heartbreaking tribute after a body was found.

Amy Hall, 17, was last seen at 1pm on Thursday, September 9 at her home in Hayfield, Derbyshire.

After an urgent search in which the local community helped out in, police found a body

Granddad Stewart Turnbull told The Sun: "We are all devastated. She was a lovely girl. An angel."

Though police aren’t certain they have identified Amy, they did inform her family of the news.

There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances in the death, police say.

A 17-year-old friend of hers who chose to stay anonymous said they took part in the search for Amy.

They said: "I went to the help look for her. We all hoped we would see her again. It's terrible. Everyone is so upset."

Neighbour Richard Hughes, 54, added that it was "terrible news" and said it was heartbreaking as "she had her whole life in front of her".

Amy was last spotted wearing black leggings, a dark navy jacket, white Nike trainers and a beige shoulder bag.

Heartbroken mum Nicky wrote in a moving Facebook post she was grateful to the searchers but no longer needed their help.

She wrote: "I can't believe I am saying this but I feel I have to due to people organising searches and posters.

"Amy Hall's body was found earlier she has died.

"Sorry to tell people this way.

"Many thanks for everything everyone has done. Nicky Hall Amy's mum xxx."

Derbyshire Constabulary confirmed the news that a body had been found in a Facebook post last night (September 11).

"The body of what is believed to be missing teenager Amy Hall has been found in the Birch Vale area, near New Mills," it read.

"Amy's family have been informed and our thoughts are with them at this time.

"Formal identification of the 17-year-old is yet to take place, officers are preparing a file for the coroner and there are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances."
