Carer bought butt plugs and vibrating penis ring using patients Amazon account

A carer has been caught using her disabled patient’s Amazon account to order sex toys and beauty products.

Lassie Dankeh, 24, was found to have also ordered clothes and transferred herself money using the Paypal service Xoom at the expense of Julie Grieveson, defrauding her to the tune of £1,789.50 last year.

Liverpool Crown Court heard that Ms Grieveson was “totally reliant on carers for her daily care,” having been left in an electric wheelchair after being diagnosed with degenerative multiple sclerosis in 2005.

The two’s paths crossed in July 2020, when Dankeh began caring for Ms Grieveson, the LiverpoolEcho reports.

In a statement read in court on behalf of Ms Grieveson, she said how she had regarded Dankeh as a “trusted friend” with whom she had a “good relationship”.

They became pals after the carer made regular visits to Ms Grieveson, 43 – even during lockdown – which saw them watch films together.

Dankeh, of Price Street in Birkenhead, Wirral, is said to have provided “companionship” and “significant assistance” to Ms Grieveson, even applying her makeup on occasion.

June Oldham, the mother of Ms Grieveson, became suspicious when she noticed her daughter was unable to pay bills she had been able to make in the past.

She told the police about the missing cash. An investigation later discovered the likes of clothing, gym leggings, lip liner, make-up, sex toys, vitamins, serum, nail lamps, self-adhesive floor planks, rugs, and face masks had all be purchased.

Among the sex toys, she is understood to have bagged butt plugs and a Durex Play Little Devil Vibrating Horned Penis Ring.

On November 7, Dankeh pleaded guilty to fraud by misrepresentation.

She was suspended by her employer in August 2021 and was later dismissed for gross misconduct.

The court then sentenced her to 24 weeks in custody, suspended for 12 months.

She was also slapped with an order to serve twenty rehabilitation days and 150 hours of unpaid work and pay back the £1789.50 she owed Ms Grieveson, plus court fees.

June Oldham and Julie Grieveson are not to be contacted by her, with a five-year restraining order having been put in place.
